This ring is a design from ancient northern Europe, and archaeological digs have uncovered many examples produced from the 3rd -11th century AD. The first versions were made by the Celts in Roman Gaul and Britain, but they were also made later by the Anglo-Saxons and Viking metalsmiths.

I have reproduced the design in sterling silver. Although the ancient versions were secured only by wrapping the ends of the wire, I have soldered down the ends of the wire so they'll never unravel or get caught on anything.
If you look closely at the examples, you will see two different ways of arranging the loops: the top and bottom loops either mirror each other or flow in opposite directions. It's subtle, but I found both methods used in history and I used both methods for this collection.
