"My love endures after death" seal pendant

This pendant was made with a wax seal from France, made in the the early 1800s.

The carving features a lone bird on a branch, with the inscription "Mon amour dure après la mort," which is French for "My love endures after death."

The pendant was made by pressing the seal into melted wax, then casting the wax in sterling silver. Each pendant was stamped individually with the seal, so the overall shape is organic and each one is slightly different.

Please note the size of the image and text on this pendant! Antique seals were made much smaller than modern wax seals

Materials

This necklace is made entirely of sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper, which is added to make the metal more durable. There is no outer plating- the metal can be polished over and over for a lifetime.
