This pendant is made from an antique wax seal from the 1820's.
The lettering on the seal says "in adversis etiam fida," which is Latin for "faithful even in adversity." In the middle there is an image of a broken column wrapped in ivy- ivy is a historical symbol of friendship and attachment.
This seal has had a lot of use! It likely belonged to a woman ("fida" is the a feminine adjective) and the broken pillar might have been understood as burial iconography, since that's a common headstone in the UK.
I made each pendant by pressing the seal into jeweler's wax and then casting the wax in sterling silver. Each pendant is stamped separately by hand, not duplicated with a mold, so it will have its own unique and organic shape- like any wax seal, it will not be perfect or totally symmetrical. The variation you can expect to see is shown in the pictures.
The metal surface has been darkened to bring out the tiny details, and the beaded chain is oxidized as well. The pendant can be slipped off the chain if you'd like to switch it around to a different style chain.
