These earrings feature two Baltic amber cabochons with sprigs of juniper hanging beneath. The juniper was cast from real plant cuttings, and you can see a lot of detail up close!
Amber is a fossil, formed from the resin of prehistoric trees (Baltic amber in particular is 40 million years old, from a now-extinct forest.) Each piece is different from the next, with its own pattern of inclusions inside– bubbles, bits of dust and other debris that were trapped in the resin while it was still liquid. These amber specimens are golden honey colored, with flat bubbles that are sometimes referred to as "sun spangles."
