In the Middle Ages, lapis lazuli was used as an amulet to protect against melancholy. Gemstone reference books from the time cite this stone as a remedy for depression, either worn on the body as jewelry or ground up and consumed as medicine.
This pendant features a slice of lapis lazuli with subtle faceting around the edges. The setting is surrounded by tiny granules of silver, and it hangs on a dainty chain with elongated oval links.
Each stone is unique and will have its own pattern of dark blue with bits of white and sparkly gold pyrite.
Pendant size: 20mm tall, 15mm wide
Chain length: 18 inches
Materials
This necklace is made entirely of sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper, which is added to make the metal more durable. There is no outer plating- the metal can be polished over and over for a lifetime.
All jewelry comes in gift packaging, although it may not match what you see in the photos.
