Cat's eye necklace

This pendant features a square purple cat's eye, framed by ornaments in a cross-shaped arrangement. 

Cat's eye shows a silky band of color that travels across the surface when you tilt it. This stone is actually synthetic- although cat's eye chalcedony exists in nature, it cannot be found in this deep purple color.  The chatoyancy effect is created by parallel glassy fibers that reflect light together as a single band. 

The pendant and chain both have a cool grey patina.

Materials

This necklace is made entirely of sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper, which is added to make the metal more durable. There is no outer plating- the metal can be polished over and over for a lifetime.
