This collection celebrates the gems that are unique to our planet, because they were created by living organisms: amber, jet, pearls, and more! These are known as "biogenic gemstones."
Since so many of these specimens are one-of-a-kind, this collection includes quite a few one-off pieces. I have grouped those listings toward the end of this preview, and it will tell you in the description if there is only one or two available.
Baltic amber juniper necklace

This pendant features a baltic amber cabochon with a sprig of juniper underneath. The juniper is cast from a real plant, so each one is slightly different. Likewise, each piece of amber is unique and has its own pattern of inclusions inside.
The flattened bubbles inside that look like flakes are called sun spangles. They're a result of heat treating the gem, and they're considered a desirable trait in Baltic amber.

Coin pearl necklace - $84
In Ancient Rome, it was believed that pearls got their iridescence from the light of the moon when oysters swam to the surface of the sea and opened their shells at night.
This necklace features a coin pearl resembling the moon, hanging in a silver hoop with granulated details. The surface of the silver is hammered, so it sparkles along with the pearl.

Fossil ring $104
This ring is molded from a real ammonite fossil.
The oval fossil impression is fixed to a sturdy double band.

Jet earrings - $88
Jet is a deep black gem formed out of fossilized, compressed driftwood. It is rare, mostly only found on the shores of Whitby, England.
It has gone in and out of popularity throughout history, but it is usually associated with Victorian era mourning jewelry, popularized by Queen Victoria herself when she wore it to mourn her husband.
These earrings feature two silver roses with drops of faceted jet.

Fern necklace - $170
This pendant features a fern that was carefully hand-sawn out of silver. The fern sits behind a window of clear quartz (harder and more sturdy than glass) in an oval frame.

Fossil necklace- $87
This pendant was molded from the fossil of a real ammonite that lived millions of years ago.
Both the pendant and chain have a patina to bring out the details.

Pearl moon earrings - $70
These earrings feature two hammered crescent moons, each hanging in a loop of seed pearls and silver beads with a keshi pearl hanging at the bottom. The seed pearls are (naturally) colored in a range from light pink to dusty lavender.
Please note that every single pearl is unique, and the keshi pearls in particular vary a lot in shape. See the pictures to know what to expect.

Snakeskin stone necklace - $78
This stone looks like snakeskin, but it really an agatized fossil from a fish! The "scales" are the fish's teeth– wrasse fish have bumpy teeth in their throats that help them grind up food, and the fossilized chunks of teeth can be shaped and polished into a gem like this.
These specimens are shaped into slightly irregular teardrops. Each stone is wreathed by two sprigs of juniper, cast in silver from a real plant.
There are only two available, both shown here. The pendant hangs from a dainty beaded chain.
Conch necklace - $90
This pendant features a piece of conch shell that has been shaped and polished into a gem. Conch is a marine mollusk whose inner shell is a creamy pink color, looking almost like porcelain.
The gem is set in a simple bezel, with a subtle floral detail on the bail.

Ammolite necklace (oval) - $220
Note: The teardrop pendant will be a separate listing. The oval pendants will be grouped together in one listing, but you will be able to choose which oval shape you would like.
Ammolite is a gem that is cut from a fossilized ammonite, characterized by a shimmering rainbow iridescence. Ammonites were marine creatures that lived millions of years ago– although their fossils are very abundant, gem quality ammolite is so rare that it is found in only one location on earth! A single rock formation in Canada.
These pendants feature a slice of ammolite on the front and a depiction of the creature it came from on the back. The ammonite swims on a glittery hammered background of silver.
Each piece of ammolite here is unique, but they are cut into three different oval shapes that you can choose from.
Although ammolite sometimes comes with an epoxy coating over the surface, these specimens have no coating. As with all fossils, be gentle with them!

Amber necklace with preserved leaf - $205 and $220
This pendant features a piece of Cretaceous-era amber that holds a preserved leaf inside. That leaf shared the Earth with dinosaurs!
On the back of the pendant, the silver is molded from a real blackberry leaf.
There are two unique pendants available, both shown here. Pendant #1 is slightly smaller than pendant #2.

Coral fossil earrings #1 - $150
Note: Coral earrings 1, 2, and 3 will be separate listings. Each is one of a kind.
These earrings feature two slices of real fossilized coral. The red color is natural, a result of the iron content in the minerals that compose the fossil.
The metal backs have been cut out to keep them lightweight, and the stones are surprisingly light as well.
